Devin White: NFC Defensive Player Of The Month

Devin White has been named the NFC’s Defensive Player Of The Month for September.

He joins Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, Simeon Rice, Shaq Barrett, Lavonte David, and Barrett Ruud as BUCS players to have won the award. Four of the previous six have won Player Of The Month multiple times.

Through three games, White leads the BUCS with 24 total tackles. He also leads the team with 3 sacks to his credit. White is coming off season where he received lots of scrutiny for his production even though he improved statistically across the board. A hot start to the season is something he was looking forward to. And it seems he’s gotten it.

As a whole, the entire BUCS defense have come of the gates with some very impressive performances. The focus on takeaways has been a big part of the defense’s surge. So far, that’s the only thing missing for Devin White to get back to this Super Bowl-level of play from 2020 when he got 2 INTs in the postseason as well as 2 fumble recoveries. He forced 1 fumble in the regular season with 1 recovery.

It’s only been three games. But Devin White looks to be heading towards another big season. The return of splash plays will most definitely help him in his quest to become the best linebacker in the NFL. He’s got 14 more games to go, with the majority of them being against high-profile matchups that will see him going up against the likes of Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, George Kittle, Alvin Kamara, and his old friend, Christian McCaffrey.

Devin White is off to one helluva start. Let’s see what happens next.
