Inconsistency Is Killing The BUCS Hopes Of A Franchise QB

Jamies Winston is the greatest hope of possibly being a franchise QB the Buccaneers have seen. I don't think there's much room to debate on that whatsoever.

However, I do think he's far from holding the title.

Considering the fact the there are different perspectives on just what exactly a "Franchise QB" actually is, I think there's one thing that would have to hold true no matter how you define it: YOU HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT IN WHATEVER IT IS.

Here's a comment from a Bucs fan taken from an article addressing the progress or lack thereof of Winston's deep ball. The comment kinda summed up a thought I've been presenting to many when talking about our star QB.

So what do we have with WInston?

Does anyone really Know?

To me the only thing we know for sure about Winston is we don’t know what we will get out of him from game to game or from one quarter to the next. He may look like the best QB in the league for 1 half then the next half look like we need another QB.

He throws into tight windows way too often vs finding wide open receivers that he misses in almost every game, because he locks on to one receiver to often. I still believe his biggest problem is playing with to much emotion, which may get better with age and experience. All I know is if a team can’t score with the talent that's on this team, it better look real hard at the QB position.

While it can seem harsh to criticize the best hope of having a legit long-term QB that most of us have seen so far, I don't think it's out of line.

To some, it'll seem like nitpicking. Others will mention all the imperfections around him. Some of those things may have some substance. But overall, is there anything that you can hang your hat on when thinking about our QB and the expectancy of him from game to game?
